Hydraulic Engineering Department
The hydraulic engineering department (department No. 18) is engaged in design, supervision of construction and operation of:
• Tailings farms of hydrometallurgical plants and processing plants;
A tailings facility is a complex of structures consisting of a tailings storage facility, a tailings hydrotransport system, and a water recycling system.
Tailings (waste) - waste from mineral processing, consisting of waste rock with the inclusion of useful components that cannot be extracted using the applied processing technology at the moment of development of processing.
• Drainage of industrial sites and urban areas.
Drainages of industrial sites and urban areas serve to lower high groundwater levels in order to protect foundations and underground communications.
• Storage ponds, evaporation ponds.
A storage pond is a hydraulic structure, the operation of which involves the collection of wastewater in one reservoir.
Evaporator ponds are a separate type of economic ponds. The main purpose of such a pond is the accumulation of incoming runoff and its technological maintenance within a certain time. During this period, gradual natural evaporation of water from the water surface into the atmosphere occurs in the pond. In this way, the main task of the evaporator pond is solved - recycling (elimination) of the runoff entering it.
• Pumping stations of various origins.
• Landfill for solid household and industrial waste.
A landfill for solid household (municipal) waste is a special structure designed for the isolation and disposal of solid waste (MSW).
• Pipeline transport of process solutions and ponds of working and productive solutions at water treatment facilities.
• Pipeline transport of process solutions is used to transport working and productive solutions from the LSU to the landfill and back.
• The working solution pond is used to prepare working solutions and supply them to the landfill using a pumping station.
• The productive solutions pond is used to receive productive solutions from the landfill and supply them using a pumping station to the LSU.
• Flood protection facilities for industrial enterprises and cities.
• Flood protection facilities serve to drain flood waters in order to protect industrial enterprises and urban areas.
• Irrigation for watering green areas.
